Dolly Parton is staying on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot despite her insistence to give way to others.

Dolly Parton' Bows Out' Of Rock Hall Nomination

Country music icon Dolly Parton was one of the many nominees for the upcoming annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

This year's nominee list spans Eminem, Beck, Devo, Kate Bush, Rage Against the Machine, Carly Simon, and many more.

This was the first time Dolly was ever nominated for the Rock Hall.

However, just this week, the 76-years old hitmaker announced to his 4.9 million followers on Instagram that she wants to "respectfully bow out" of the nomination.

She felt that she did not have earned the right to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, considering she is a devout Country singer.

Dolly, however, does not rule out the possibility of wanting to be nominated in the near future.

She pointed out that his husband, who is a "Rock N Roll freak," has been pushing her to make some rock and roll music, in which she felt like the time she could only be eligible to be nominated.

In a new Variety report, the Rock and Roll foundation has finally spoken up about Dolly's "bow out" after a few days.

The Foundation, made known of Dolly's decision, highlights the music legend's humility as the reason why she was beloved by millions of fans globally.

However, Rock Hall elaborated that "Rock and Roll has had deep roots in Rhythm & Blues and Country music," ergo qualifying Parton on the list.

"It is not defined by any one genre, rather a sound that moves youth culture. Dolly Parton's music impacted a generation of young fans and influenced countless artists that followed," the Foundation explained.

The Foundation also pointed out that her nomination followed the same process as any other artist considered for the induction.

"We are in awe of Dolly's brilliant talent and pioneering spirit and are proud to have nominated her for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame," the statement ends.

Parton spoke to Fox earlier today and elaborated on her decision to bow out, comparing that she felt out of place for being nominated on the Rock Hall.

"I just feel like that's more for the people in rock music.. It kind of would be like putting AC/DC in the Country Music Hall of Fame. That just felt a little out of place for me," Dolly explained.
