After collaborating on the hit song "My Universe," British rock band, Coldplay has nothing but good words for the Korean supergroup BTS.
In a most recent interview, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin expressed his love for BTS on the upcoming Grammys.
Coldplay Is Rooting for BTS To Win at the Grammys
Speaking to Exa 96.9 FM, a Dominican Republic Radio station, the Coldplay frontman shares the thought of the million BTS Armys, fans of the Korean boy band, worldwide.
Asked if he's rooting for BTS despite being nominated in the same category, Martin quickly responded.
"Of course [I'm rooting for BTS], man." "I love them. I love those guys and I just wish them good things, always."
Coldplay and BTS are both nominated for the 64th Grammy Awards for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Higher Power" and "Butter," respectively.
The supergroups worked together before in a massive hit collaboration, "My Universe."
"My Universe" was one of the band's most successful collaborations to date as it broke records and reached top positions in various country charts.
However, in the same interview, Chris revealed that the record was not eligible for this year's Grammys because of a certain technicality.
"I think how the Grammys works is that each year, the nominations finish at a certain date.So [My Universe] is not eligible this year. The song we did with BTS, or our album, that's next year maybe, who knows?" he continued.
BTS, Coldplay's My Universe
Released in late September 2021, "My Universe" was Coldplay's second Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper after 2008's "Viva la Vida".
The track debuted at the top spot of the charts upon its release and held it for a week.
Aside from that, it also debuted No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and held its place for three weeks.
In the United Kingdom, "My Universe" peaked only at No. 3 based on the Official Charts Company charts.
The collaboration of the two supergroups also broke the record Guinness World Record for the Highest Debut by a UK Group in the US Singles Chart.
This is not the first time Martin has "sent flowers" to BTS, as he mentioned the group on Apple Music's Zane Lowe interview last year.
