Goonew was slain by a gunshot last month and was put to rest on Monday.

However, there was a memorial service for him at a D.C. nightclub that drew some criticism, but his family justified what happened.

Videos showed Markelle Morrow's corpse raised upright on stage for hours inside the venue went viral a few days ago. It's unclear if it was the "Real Steppers" rapper's genuine body or a wax production.

But his family, who claimed they were rejoicing right next to his corpse at his farewell party at Bliss Nightclub, said it was precisely how they intended to remember his life.

Patrice Morrow, the rapper's mother, buried her son on Monday and said that Goonew would not want anyone to know.

She also said that she should be entitled to say "goodbye" to her kid in whichever way she sees fit.

Patrice and Arianna, the rapper's sisters, told TMZ that when they originally visited with the funeral home, the mother didn't want people looking down on her son. As a result, she and Ariana wanted him to be propped up on display after witnessing other services do so.

"For all the negatives, people probably don't know anything about us," she said.

"They have no idea. People just saying what they want to say, and that's fine. That's perfectly fine. I'm pleased with how I sent my son away. I wish people would just let me grieve in peace."

The crown on Goonew's head, according to Patrice, was the funeral home's suggestion since he was renowned as the "King of Maryland."

Aside from being a rapper, Goonew was also known as the life of the party and was characterized as the sort of guy who was always up for a good time.

As a result, his family members feel that the rapper would not want a sorrowful funeral.

Arianna further said that her brother stated unequivocally that he did not want to be buried in a suit.

The 24-year-old musician is not a churchgoer, which would have necessitated a coffin, and is dressed in formal wear, which would make him seem fraudulent. As a result, they decided to dress Goonew in ordinary clothing to make it look as though he was still alive.

While some are upset about what happened, Goonew's family stated they still got love and support from individuals who knew him.
