Daniel Caesar has recently inked a deal with a new label; what would this move mean to his future music and upcoming albums?
Daniel Caesar Inks New Label Deal with Republic Records
According to a Billboard report, the GRAMMY-winning R&B Artist has signed a deal with Republic Records, his new music label.
"I felt like I was becoming a label executive and an artist at the same time. I wanted to keep artistry and business separate with a major label as my partner," Caesar elaborated on his decision.
Before this huge career step, the 27-year old singer was signed to Golden Child Recordings, an independent label he co-founded in Toronto, Canada.
During his stint as an indie artist, the "We Find Love" hitmaker collaborated with various artists and musicians.
This includes Juno Award-winning Producer Matthew Burnett, Golden Child Recordings co-founder Jordan Evans, Sean Brown, Iva Golubovic, and Keavan Yazdani.
While at Golden Child Recordings, Daniel Caesar sealed his first GRAMMY win with his hit collaboration single "Best Part" with H.E.R..
Most recently, the Canadian native was also nominated alongside Justin Bieber for their work on "Peaches" - receiving Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance, and Best Music Video nods at the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards.
Daniel Caesar Has a Different Take on Signing to a New Label Before
A 2020 Daniel Caesar might have disagreed with the current Daniel Caesar as he had opposing views on leaving his label before.
Per Caesar, signing to a label at the time "would be a bad business decision" for him.
"As soon as you sign, you give over your ideas, your potential, to somebody else to do how they see fit. You're no longer the big boss," he explained.
2022 might be a different year for Caesar as he has now decided to leave the music label that he has co-founded, especially now that he has a new album underway.
Daniel Caesar Hints Details About His Upcoming New Album
In the same exclusive interview with Billboard, Daniel Caesar, who was then mum on social media, finally spoke up about his next project.
The "Freudian" hitmaker revealed that he is currently working on his much-awaited third studio album.
Caesar, who sounds more confident now, double downs on how his authentic self will be showcased on his next project: "Each album, I've become more myself, and I'm zeroing in on what I want to say. You'll hear more introspection, honesty and I'm playing most of the music myself. I've never been in the driver's seat more than I am now."
