Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley had a tumultuous marriage, but it did not affect what Elvis Presley's daughter truly felt toward the King of Pop when he died suddenly.

The world was left shocked when Jackson was found dead on June 25, 2009. It was initially reported that he suffered cardiac arrest, but the investigators later concluded it to be a homicide.

At the time of his passing, he and Presley were no longer together. But she confessed that she was devastated by the singer's death.

"I was crying all day. It was the strangest day of my life. I was floored. Honestly floored," she said, as quoted by Express UK.

She reportedly learned about it through a text message John Travolta sent to her.

Her reaction revealed so much about their intimate relationship, although they surprised the world with the secret marriage even Presley's mother, Priscilla, was not aware of.

The "Smooth Criminal" hitmaker reportedly proposed to her over the phone before getting married in the Dominican Republic on May 26, 1994. Although they had a fruitful relationship, the public still got time to assume that their relationship was fake.

Jermaine Jackson Said Michael Jackson, Lisa Marie Presley Loved Each Other

Presley was shocked and heartbroken by Jackson's passing, and her love for the late singer explained why she reacted that way.

Jermaine Jackson, a former Jackson 5 member, described the King of Pop's love for Elvis Presley's only child, saying that the singer's joy could not have been faked.

The intimacy you see in the video for You Are Not Alone was art imitating life; a sweet glimpse as to how easy they were with one another and how they liked to laugh," he wrote in his 2012 biography "You Are Not Alone: Michael: Through a Brother's Eyes."

However, the family was also accused of loathing Presley as their engagement and marriage happened so quickly.

Still, Jermaine defended the family and said that they embraced her as she was Jackson's best interest. Presley also grew closer to Janet and Rebbie Jackson.

Unfortunately, their marriage still ended in 1996 when the then-couple split due to "irreconcilable differences." Reports at that time said that they feuded over having children. Jackson reportedly wanted them as soon as possible, but Presley did not want to have a child yet.

Instead of having children with Presley, Jackson married Debbie Rowe, his dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein's assistant. Rowe was willing to have his children, and she later gave birth to Prince and Paris Jackson.
