Carly Rae Jepsen unveiled new music at Coachella for the first time in two years.

The 'Call Me Maybe' singer debuted the new music "Western Wind" at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, during the opening weekend of the world-famous Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

"Coachella weekend one!" the 36-year-old pop star captioned a series of photos from the performance on Instagram. And it began with a bang, courtesy of all of YOU!," she added.

Carly had been previewing the release of the new song on social media.

Meanwhile, the "Good Time" singer celebrated the tenth anniversary of her mega-hit "Call Me Maybe" in September, admitting the song was "a lightning bolt" in her life.

Carly rose to recognition following the publication of the catchy song in 2011, and she remembers feeling "giddy" the first time she overheard people discussing her music while working as a waiter, despite the fact that they weren't being particularly complimentary about her tracks. "'Call Me Maybe' was like a lightning bolt to my little life. I can remember waitressing one day not too long before things picked up and hearing one of the tables outside talk about my music," she wrote.

"The table was seated with about 12 people who had all returned from a camping trip in Canada and had sung along to the radio the whole time. I think it was an earlier song that only played in Canada) called 'Tug of War' that was on repeat a lot back then and they were not exactly fans. A direct quote I overheard was something like, 'This girl Carly Rae Jepsen was on repeat over and over our whole trip and we are so sick of it.' Some of them sang the song in a mocking voice, oblivious to the fact that I was serving them food," she continued.

What a fun anecdote - and quite sad - but at least everything turned out really, really great for the musician!

She added that while she was pouring the wine and interacting shyly with her "big floppy bangs" she said she had prayed that she would not be recognized. Moreover, instead of feeling insulted, she was ecstatic that people were actually talking about her song, and about her. She even gushed about the incident to her manager.

"These people outside KNOW ME! Okay they don't know ME per se but they know my MUSIC! (A giggle.) And they HATE IT but they KNOW IT and I'm kinda weirdly proud of that!," she told her manager.

She eventually had the courage to let the patrons know who she was by signing their bill in bold characters at the back. She shared that she told them she's grateful she was allowed to serve them that night apart from that big bold autograph.

She added that after the customers' jaws dropped, they gave her a bigger tip than what was she was receiving in other nights.

She said this is her story to remind kids not to let go of their dreams.
