Jessica Simpson has raised eyebrows among fans after appearing "fidgety" and "slurring her sentences" in a new Flonase commercial. Some made rude comments, and some are very concerned about the singer's health. What is happening?

In an Instagram Story video she shared, Tuesday, the 41-year-old singer-turned-fashion designer holds a bottle of the allergy-relief nasal spray in one hand and flails her other around as if reading from a script in front of her.

"Hey, guys. Climate change is impossible to ignore, especially for my friends in LA - we know," she says to the camera while standing outside what appears to be her home.

"So many of us were affected by the wildfires a few years back, and now rising temperatures are always in the back of our minds," she continues, smiling periodically. The thing is, her eyes were darting back and forth, giving the impression that she's really uncomfortable and even confused by what she's doing.

Simpson continues by discussing "some of the other repercussions of rising temperatures that are already hurting us," such as "higher pollen counts and longer, worse allergy seasons," which she refers to as "invisible monsters."

The mother of three - who shares son Ace, 8, and daughters Maxwell, 9, and Birdie, 3, with husband Eric Johnson - claims she has been using the product for "years" before finishing the video with a recommendation for Children's Flonase.

While some Instagram users expressed astonishment and even discomfort about the sponsored connection in the comments section of the accompanying post, the majority focused on the star's "painful" performance and "abnormal" movements.

"Painful to watch and sadly I love her," remarked one person, who added, "Flonase please hire a professional. That was embarrassing to watch."

Some said cue cards should be held at the eye level, or at least the singer should memorize her lines. Some said she could be "on something," implying she must have taken drugs, because not only was the commercial bad, it was her "worst."

Others, on the other hand, jumped to Simpson's defense, with one fan commenting the rude criticisms are uncalled for.
