Bad news for Fontaines D.C. fans. The band has canceled their show in Boston, Massachusetts, as vocalist Grian Chatten was diagnosed with a medical condition.

According to NME, the Irish group is performing across the United States. They were supposed to play at the Paradise Rock Club, but they canceled the show due to Chatten's laryngitis diagnosis.

Taking to their official Twitter account, the band issued a statement that reads, "unfortunately, Grian has been diagnosed with laryngitis and has been advised to rest his voice for a few days."

They assured fans that they'd come back to Boston as they're currently working to reschedule the show, asking fans to hold onto their tickets and wait for further announcements.

Fontaines D.C. will be headlining two dates at Brooklyn Steel in New York City on April 26 and 27, but they haven't canceled the shows yet.

It is still unclear whether the group will still perform in New York despite their bandmate's condition.

The band is performing tracks from their latest album, "Skinty Fia," which was released last week.

The outlet described the record as a "wounded heart beating throughout."

What Is Laryngitis?

According to Mayo Clinic, laryngitis is an inflammation of a person's voice box (also known as larynx).

The condition occurs when the organ has been overused, irritated, or infected.

The outlet noted that the medical condition could be acute (short-lived) or chronic (long-lasting). Most common cases occur when a temporary viral infection triggers the larynx.

Symptoms include sore throat, dry throat, dry cough, tickling sensation, weak voice, and more.

Other Singers Who Had Vocal Injuries

Grian Chatten is not the only singer who suffered from vocal injuries, as many artists have also canceled shows in the past due to their respective medical conditions.

According to Page Six, Adele underwent a vocal node surgery 11 years ago. Her condition led her to follow a strict diet regimen to save her golden voice.

Sam Smith had also undergone surgery with Adele's surgeon to correct unstable blood vessels in his vocal cords.

Other powerhouse singers who suffered from vocal issues include Julie Andrews in 1997, Bjork in 2012, Mariah Carey, Elton John, John Mayer, and many more.
