Music legend Bob Dylan is re-recording his greatest hits to launch along with T Bone Burnett's new high-fidelity audio format.

Well, Bob Dylan is not re-recording his classic songs all by himself. He is actually doing it with his longtime friend and renowned music producer T Bone Burnett.

Per Burnett, he and Dylan are busy in the studio to re-record his hits to launch alongside his new high fidelity medium Ionic Originals.

Hailed as the first major breakthrough in the reproduction of analog sound in more than 70 years, Burnett is cooking up something that would revolutionize recorded sound. (via NME)

"An Ionic Original is the pinnacle of recorded sound. It is archival quality. It is future-proof. It is one of one. Not only is an Ionic Original the equivalent of a painting, it is a painting," the producer elaborated on the project.

More so, Ionic Originals are lacquer painted onto an aluminum disc, with music etched into a spiral. Using a stylus or classically spinning the track are two ways to use this newly-produced collector's item.

As of this writing, details surrounding the release date are still a mystery. No one knows yet what form the Ionic Original will take and which Bob Dylan songs are re-recorded. However, Burnett's press release says that the latest material aims to "reset the valuation of recorded music."

This is not the first time re-recording of music happened in the music industry's recent history.

Taylor Swift Re-Recorded Albums

The most iconic and commercially successful one to date is Taylor Swift's re-recorded versions of "Fearless" and "Red."

In 2020, Taylor confirmed that she would be re-recording six of her previous albums to take control of her discography after ex-music manager Scooter Braun acquired Swift's old label, Big Machine Label Group, in 2019.

Swift has launched a full-blown takedown on the manager, with the popstar posting an emotional Tumblr post and subtle digs at Braun on her performances.

To date, Swift has already released "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and Red (Taylor's Version) which both debuted atop the Billboard 200 charts since its release.

Swift then turned the tide for other artists and influenced them to re-record theirs, including Snoop Dogg, who has revealed that he had previously considered it.
