According to a new book, Prince promised to assist Amy Winehouse in escaping from her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, after the latter "stole" money from the "Purple Rain" singer's dressing area.

Winehouse was invited to join Prince on the final night of his 21-night stint at London's 02 Arena in September 2007 to perform a duet of her song "Love is a Losing Game."

Phil Griffin, a videographer who had recently begun working with Prince, scheduled their rendezvous, as Tyler James - a longtime friend of Winehouse - recounts in his new book, "My Amy: The Life We Shared."

According to James, Prince and Winehouse performed the song in front of adoring fans and then entered Prince's dressing area, where the "Valerie" singer announced that Fielder-CIvil, Amy Winehouse's then husband, was joining them.

Fielder-Civil has acknowledged to bringing heroin and crack cocaine to his then-wife.

"And now with Blake there, the whole atmosphere changed," James writes. "Blake was paranoid, itchy, going into Prince's toilet to do drugs. Everything switched to edgy. There was cash in the dressing room, just lying there, out in the open on the makeup table. No one was paying attention to it."

Following the performance, James was in the car with the pair when "Blake made a joke about stealing money from the dressing room amounting to several hundreds of pounds." James knew that even it was made into a joke, Blake did steal from Prince and it was a mortifying thought for him.

While Amy laughed it off, James knew she was really awkward about it too, but cannot show such in front of her husband. James revealed Blake even stole Prince's hairbrushes.

The thing is, someone did get hurt because of Fielder-Civil's little antic. Phil Griffin, the said videographer was the one accused of stealing the money. Griffin called James up personally to say that when Phil's security found out the money was missing, he was the one accused and even beaten up.

This forced Amy WInehouse to call up Prince and apologize, promising to return the money.

Prince however, was adamant that the issue was no longer the money, but what Griffin went through and what this whole fiasco meant about Winehouse's marriage.

The "Raspberry Beret" singer was so concerned about Winehouse that he rang Griffin various times "asking if there was anything he could do to get her away from Blake ... he even offered to send a plane to spirit her away."

The marriage ended in 2009 after years of physical abuse and drug binges, one of which lasted two months straight.

Unfortunately, the two subjects to this story are now dead.

Winehouse died in 2011 at the age of 27 from alcohol toxicity. Prince, 57, died in 2016 of an accidental fentanyl overdose.

Meanwhile, Blake Fielder-Civil is now living his life without issues. Winehouse's own mom even defended him on the 10th Anniversary of her death - claiming their marriage was "pure."
