Tegan and Sara, the infamous Canadian twin-sister duo, have released a new single, "F-king Up What Matters," to coincide with their signing to a new label, Mom + Pop Music. Everything is new with the two it seems - new management, new song, new music video, and based on the lyrics of the song - new perspective in life.

The twins, 41, are making a huge professional step by signing to a new label. "Michael Goldstone signed us to Sire/Warner in 2006," the duo said in a statement. "But soon after he signed us, he left to start Mom+Pop. We never held it against him. But joked that one day we'd work together for real."

They went on to now say it was with great excitement that they have agreed to contract with Mom+Pop when their contract with Warner expired in 2021."

They said the new label suits them and they are excited to be back on an indie label with a fantastic lineup, with Goldie and the company's wonderful personnel assisting us with the publication of our tenth album.

Goldstone, too, was ecstatic to add the combo to his label and expressed his excitement. "Since signing them to Sire, I have watched Tegan and Sara grow and thrive as artists, and as people become more important and relevant than ever," he told Variety. "I have always been proud to call them my friends and I hoped there would come a time when we could work together again in a creative capacity," he added.

The lyrics to the new song seem to be quite telling of the twins' headspace at the moment.

Tegan said in a statement that "F-king Up What Matters" is a "ode to the moment in one's life when they realize that they have the majority, if not all, of the things they desire, and yet - they sudddenly have the urge to simply "walk away from it all."

The song is about daydreaming and indulging in the liberating understanding that sometimes one cannot help but ruin what counts."

According to Tegan, the title is derived from a comment by the twins' mother, who stated, It's often when we're f-king up what matters, that we're learning the most about ourselves."

Along with the track, the sisters released a meta-music video in which they outline the process of creating a music video, taking the audience through each step by holding up a handmade sign.
