"Between Us," Little Mix's greatest hits collection, reaches a new top of Number 3 this week, climbing two spots as the trio continues their Confetti Tour around the country.
The album - Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Perrie Edwards' final release before the band's indefinite break - debuted at #4 upon its November 2021 release. Can this somehow convince them to postpone their hiatus? It's apparent that lans love them!
The trio - which lost fourth member Jesy Nelson last year - published the greatest hits compilation Between Us last month as a follow-up to last November's Confetti. "We can't thank you enough for your love and never-ending support since the beginning. We love you all SO much," their statement reads.
To be clear, they reiterated that they are not breaking up - "Little Mix are here to stay" - and that they have undefined plans for future albums and appearances. "We've made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can't wait to make so many more."
The group debuted in 2011 after winning the British version of The X Factor; they have charted in the United Kingdom with singles such as "Cannonball," "Wings," "Black Magic," and Shout Out to My Ex. Their studio albums include DNA (2012), Salute (2013), Get Weird (2015), Glory Days (2016), LM5 (2018), and Confetti (2020). They achieved their seventh UK No. 1 single with "Sweet Melody" in January, but were forced to cancel the Confetti Tour in February owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This summer, both Pinnock and Edwards welcomed their first children.
Following the announcement, supporters voiced anxiety that they might permanently split.
After all, there are bands that announced a hiatus but went on to disband eventually. One Direction is a good example.
After taking a hiatus in 2016, one of the world's largest boy bands shocked its fans. However, it was Zayn Malik who departed the group for the first time in 2015, during the midst of a world tour. The band members later pursued solo careers. Zayn released his chart-topping hit "Pillowtalk," while Harry Styles gained fresh popularity with singles such as 'Sign of the Times.' In terms of a comeback, it will never happen.
Fifth Harmony experienced a setback when Camila Cabello abruptly left the band in 2016 to pursue a solo career. The band then attempted but ultimately failed to figure things out as a four-piece outfit. Fifth Harmony announced their hiatus in 2018 following several failed attempts.
