After her tragic and untimely death, Country music legend Naomi Judd has shaken the music industry with her passing, more specifically, the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Rising to prominence because of her mother-daughter Country duo, The Judds, Naomi Judd shared the stage with her daughter Wynnona Judd almost for the entirety of her career as a Country music singer.
However, yesterday, Naomi passed away due to a mental health disease - leaving her two daughters, Wynnona and Ashley, motherless.
But even before her passing, The Judds are slated for induction into the Class of 2022 of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Country Music Hall of Fame Continues Induction Ceremony
As one of the most successful Country music acts in the 1980s, The Judds remained an iconic duo in the genre decades past.
The two made their television comeback after twenty years at the 2022 CMT Music Awards last Apr. 11, 2022.
Prior to Naomi's death, the Country music duo was expected to accept their induction to the Country music hall yesterday.
"Shocked and saddened" about the icon's death, the Country Music Hall of Fame continued with the act's induction despite expressing initial reluctance.
Per CNN, Wynnona asked the foundation to remain on track with the scheduled induction. Country Music Hall CEO Kyle Young said in the statement that they will continue "with heavy hearts."
In last evening's emotional induction ceremony, Wynnona and Ashley Judd, albeit in tears, accepted the induction on behalf of their late mother.
"My mama loved you so much and she appreciated your love for her. I'm sorry that she couldn't hang on until today. Your esteem for her and your regard for her really penetrated her heart, and it was your affection for her that did keep her going in these last years," Ashley tearfully said.
Aside from The Judds, Ray Charles, Pete Drake, and Eddie Bayers were also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at last evening's ceremony.
According to Billboard, fans of the beloved country duo have paid tribute to the late Naomi Judd outside the venue. Gathered fans laid out a white floral bouquet at the entrance along with a framed photo of the late country singer.
