A$AP Rocky is one of the most renowned artists today, and since his music is popular, he's earning millions of dollars annually, but life wasn't like that years ago as he used to be homeless; how did he go from selling drugs on the street to a multi-million dollar artist?
According to Wealthy Gorilla, the rapper's net worth currently sits at $10 million. Although it's significantly smaller than other giants in the hip hop industry like Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, P. Diddy, and more, he's projected to earn more in the years to come.
Little did fans know that Rocky had a "rags to riches" story, as his childhood wasn't that fun growing up.
Per The Richest, the musician, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has been living a luxurious life filled with expensive cars, jewelry, clothing, and more; however, his life was different years back.
At the age of 12, his family was deeply affected after his father was incarcerated for selling drugs. The following year, his brother was killed by another drug dealer.
Since he didn't have many options left, Rocky went on to sell drugs on the streets to pay bills and feed his family.
At the time, they were homeless and forced to live in different shelters with his mother and sister.
Since rapping has been one of his passions since he was nine years old, he decided to pursue it as a full-time career.
In 2011, he released his first single titled "Purple Swag" and became popular in his community in New York.
He later got signed with RCA Records and Polo Grounds Music for $3 million.
Ever since, his success never stopped as he went on to be a global sensation, having to collaborate with some of the biggest stars as well as fashion brands.
He previously teamed up with artists like Kanye West, Frank Ocean, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, Tyler the Creator, Rod Stewart, Kid Cudi, and many more.
Rocky also collaborates with his partner Rihanna from time to time.
Aside from making music, he earns money from his clothing line business venture; he collaborated with Raf Simmons.
International fashion brand Guess also gave him the opportunity to release his clothing line under their label called "GUE$$."
Today, he lives in a $3 million mansion in Harlem and has an extensive collection of sneakers, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, sportscars, and many more.
