Bad news for Pearl Jam fans! It seems like the band won't be performing on their next two shows as their bassist, Jeff Ament, is suffering from a health condition; what are the canceled dates?
In a statement issued on their official Twitter account, the group said the musician tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday morning.
"This is horrible for everybody involved and we are especially sorry to those out there who have made plans to attend these shows," they wrote. (via KCRA 3)
The group clarified that staying inside the "bubble" has been constant for them, and they did their best to remain clear of the virus.
Because of the shocking news, their Wednesday show at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California and Friday's concert at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, are both canceled.
Ticket holders can get a refund automatically through their meeathod of purchase.
Ament's positive test comes a few days after drummer Matt Cameron has also tested positive for the virus.
However, despite his medical condition, his bandmates, Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, and Eddie Vedder, tested negative, and they were able to perform at their show in Oakland.
This is the first time the musician has missed a show in 24 years as he constantly tours with them from time to time.
Since no one would play the drumkit at the time, touring member and former Red Hot Chili Peppers member, Josh Klinghoffer, filled the slot to play the songs "Corduroy," "Why Go," "Rockin' In The Free World," and "Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In a Small Town."
Collaborator Richard Stuverud also took the drumkit to help his pals play the songs "Quick Escape" and "Superblood Wolfmoon."
In the end, the audience were surprised as a fan from the crowd went up on stage to help the band perform their encore.
According to a concertgoer who commented on a video of the fan playing the drums, Vedder asked if there were any drummers in the crowd that wanted to play, the man named Josh jumped and ran to the front isle.
"Eddie saw his shirt, which listed all of the PJ drummers," the user added.
The band played "Yellow Ledbetter" as their last song in Oaklahoma.
As of this writing, the rest of their shows, aside from Sacramento and Las Vegas, are still up on their website and no cancellation has been announced yet.
Their current tour will wrap up on September 22 at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.
