"Stranger Things" season 4 volume 1 just premiered a few days back, and it's been receiving a lot of praises from critics and fans globally. Little did viewers know that the series also helped a song from the 80s dominate the charts and gain recognition.
WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD
Since the show was set in 1986, its production had to completely transform its characters and set by giving them an ultimate throwback makeover.
Throughout the series, many 80s references can be seen throughout the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, including posters, fashion, establishments, cars, and more.
To put a cherry on top, the show strictly used songs from the era that gave a nostalgic feeling to die-hard fans.
In a few episodes, the 1985 song "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" by Kate Bush was played.
According to TVLine, the song topped the iTunes charts two days after the series debuted. It also placed 30th on the Billboard Hot 100 single chart 40 years after its initial release.
Per Popculture, The track even became successful today as it wasn't close to its position when it was first released.
It also became a significant plot in one specific episode when Max, played by Sadie Sink, was about to be taken by Vecna into a demonic world.
However, when Nancy and Robin, played by Natalia Dyer and Maya Hawke, did their research, they realized that playing music could help Vecna stop its demonic acts.
The two quickly radioed their newly-found information to the group (Dustin, Lucas, and Steve), so they acted quickly and put headphones on her.
The plan was successful as Max was able to get out of the underworld.
"Running Up That Hill" wasn't the only song played in the series, as there are dozens of throwback hits incorporated throughout the episodes.
Spotify recently released a 10-hour official playlist featuring the songs from and inspired by "Stranger Things" season 4 volume 1.
Some of the tracks include The Beach Boys' "California Dreamin,'" Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer," "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) Remix" by Journey, Dead Or Alive's "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)," KISS' "Detroit Rock City," The Cramps' "I Was A Teenage Werewolf," and many more.
The show is available for streaming via Netflix.
