Will Butler's exit from Arcade Fire has shocked the band's most loyal fans.
While his former bandmates were supportive of his decision to part ways, Will has been true to his words that he departs to pursue his own solo career.
The 39-year-old musician has finally released his newest single and a music video and a follow-up track.
Will Butler Leaves Arcade Fire
Last March 2022, Arcade Fire announced that Will Butler has decided to leave the band by the end of 2021.
"There was no acute reason beyond that I've changed--and the band has changed--over the last almost 20 years. Time for new things," he said at the time.
Despite his departure from the band, the musician was still credited on Arcade Fire's latest album "WE."
The highly-anticipated sixth album was Will's last album that he has recorded with the band. He has been in the band ever since the release of the GRAMMY-nominated debut album "Funeral" in 2014.
But despite being in the band for so long, this is not the first time Will has pursued a solo career. In 2015, he released his debut album, "Policy," which received mainly positive reviews from critics.
The year after, Will created the follow-up to the album, "Friday Night," released through Merge Records. His third one, "Generations," was released four years later.
Months after his official announcement of departure from Arcade Fire, Will Butler has finally unveiled his two new singles, including a music video on the first one.

Released via Merge Records, Will Butler shared the music video for the slow-burning track "A Stranger's House."
It was then followed up with "Nearer To Thee," which NME depicted as "intense and dramatic."
The tracks, which some fans believe to be part of an upcoming album, will be supported by a string of North America concerts and his five-piece band.
