It's been years since One Direction disbanded, and many fans are still hoping for the boys to get back together. In a recent interview, Liam Payne reveals where he stands with his good pal Zayn Malik today, years after he first left the band.

Speaking to the "Impaulsive" podcast, the singer spoke to Logan Paul, where he gave fans an insight into his relationship with Malik, from how it was developed to where he stands with him today.

On the show, Paul opened up about the "Pillowtalk" hitmaker because he had an issue with his brother, Jake, in 2020.

According to People Magazine, the Paul brothers claimed on social media that Malik was unkind to them in Las Vegas.

The singer's then-girlfriend, Gigi Hadid, subtly threw shade at the siblings by tweeting: "Lol cause he doesn't care to hang w you and your embarrassing crew of YouTube groupies ..? Home alone with his best friends like a respectful king cause he has me, sweetie. Unbothered by your irrelevant ugly ass. Go to bed."

Now, Payne is opening up about the situation, saying Hadid's tweet didn't age very well, seemingly referencing his pal's alleged altercation with Yolanda Hadid, whom he reportedly called a "Dutch s***."

Despite Malik's allegations, the singer said there are many reasons he dislikes his old pal, but there are also many reasons he'll always be on his side.

In addition, Payne said if he had to go through what his friend experienced regarding his growth, his parents are overly supportive to the point that it's annoying at times. He added that Malik had a "different upbringing in that sense."

The singer opened up about other people's expectations of Malik, saying the public can always look at the man for where he is and judge him, but they could also understand what he's been through.

Despite his support, Payne has some limitations, saying, "listen, I don't agree with any of his actions. I can't commend some of the things that he's done. I can't be on his side for that."

After the alleged altercation with Yolanda Hadid, Malik remained mum on social media. The singer was then charged with four counts of harassment.

The former One Direction member addressed the issue in a statement, saying the problems between him and the Hadid family should remain a private matter.
