Even almost a year after his death, Charlie Watts' Rolling Stones bandmates never forgot him as they made a big move online on what would have been his 81st birthday.

According to People Magazine, members of the legendary English band- Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood- individually took to their social media accounts to pay tribute to the late drummer.

Jagger shared a black-and-white photo on his Instagram stories which shows him hugging the late musician as he sat behind his drum kit in Dallas, Texas, in 1981.

The 78-year-old rocker captioned the post, "Happy birthday Charlie. We miss you."

On the other hand, Wood shared several photos of them together via Twitter, including two smiling portraits of the late drummer and a painting of Watts.

"Remembering my dear Charlie, my Gemini twin, on his birthday today. I miss you," the musician wrote.

Ronnie Wood referred to Watts as his "Gemini twin" as their birthdays are only two days apart. He celebrated his 75th birthday a few days ago.

Keith Richards took to Instagram to share a funny photo of him and his excellent pal sharing a hilarious moment together as they make faces.

"Happy Birthday, Charlie Watts!! Miss You!" the guitarist captioned the post.

The Rolling Stones 60th Anniversary Tour

The latest tributes come a day after The Rolling Stones began their 60th Anniversary Tour in Madrid, Spain. Since the musician passed away, Steve Jordan has been playing the drums.

Watt's longtime drum tech Don McAulay paid homage by placing his drum key in the same place the late drummer used to.

"Charlie always would before each show. Happy birthday Charlie, we miss you," the band posted on Twitter with a video of McAulay.

The drummer died last August 24, 2021. The cause of death remains a mystery, but numerous reports said that he died in Royal Marsden Hospital while his wife of 57 years, Shirley Shepherd, stood beside him.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Jagger mentioned he had great conversations with the drummer over the past years, however, he died last year, and it's a "huge loss" to all of them."

On the other hand, Richards said Watts' death was shocking to all of them.

"He had had a round with cancer a year or two before, and he'd beat that one. He just got hit with a double whammy," Richards added.
