It appears that Young Thug will be spending more time behind bars as a judge denied his bond during his hearing today (June 2).
According to Pitchfork, the bond hearing, held in Atlanta, Georgia, lasted for more than seven hours, and in the end, Judge Ural D. Glanville decided not to grant him any bond.
The rapper's trial is now set for January 9, 2023.
The judge also claimed that the "Pick Up the Phone" hitmaker is a potential danger to the community and witnesses.
Young Thug was arrested last month on charges of participation in street gang activity and "conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act."
During the hearing, Judge Glanville noted that there have been "significant proffers" about the rapper being a danger to the public.
"He is dangerous and if he crosses them he'll kill them or their families," he added.
On May 23, Gunna, another rapper who was allegedly one of the gang members in the RICO indictment, was also denied bond by a judge.
His trial is scheduled for January 9, 2023. Both rappers will remain behind bars until their subsequent trial.
The two musicians were named in a grand jury indictment last month. A total of 28 alleged members, which were members and associates of Thug's Label, were also named in the case.
Among those people who have been indicted were Unfoonk, Peewee Roscoe, Duke, and Yak Gotti.
All 28 defendants were charged with conspiracy to violate the RICO Act, but Young Thug and Gunna will face more charges.
The two were also charged with aggravated assault, drugs, weapons charges, and armed robbery.
A few days later, Thug was also charged with seven additional felonies, including possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm, and many more.
As of this writing, Young Thug has not publicly commented on the matter.
However, his lawyer, Brian Steel, has denied all of the musician's involvement with the alleged crimes, saying he will fight to his last drop of blood to clear him. (via WSB-TV)
The outlet spoke to the attorney at the time of his arrest, saying, "Mr. Williams has committed no violation of law, whatsoever. We will fight this case ethically, legally and zealously. Mr. Williams will be cleared."
