Cardi B is facing a new controversy about her album that isn't even released yet as many online users bombard her with criticisms, claiming she's attempting to put previously released singles to her upcoming record to boost streams.
According to Complex, the rapper made an appearance on Playboy's Centerfold platform where she confirmed that her collaboration song with Megan Thee Stallion's "Wap" and "Up" will be included in her sophomore albums.
Both singles were released in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
The outlet noted that adding the songs wouldn't help the sales to go up during its first week, but many critics are still annoyed.
It all started when a fan named Bobby Foster took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the situation, writing, "I blame the streaming era. Artists just do this to get certifications for their album. I don't like it." (via The Neighborhood Talk)
The user then deleted his tweet, explaining that he wasn't trying to start a "stan war" because he hate being in the middle of those.
He clarified that his post wasn't a "hate tweet" to Cardi, but rather a critique of the music industry.
The "Bodak Yellow" rapper then responded to his tweet, asking him to stop trying to act innocent when he knew he was "trying to pander."
"Why haven't you said nother about other artists who recently put songs before the pandemic on their album or people that have to put other people songs on their s***. Imagine my bigges song not being on an album," she tweeted.
Cardi didn't stop there as she explained that her debut album "Invasion of Privacy," released in 2018, didn't have CDs, merch, or bundles, but it managed to be successful, leading her to earn a Diamond certification.
"Wash your tongue correctly before you talk about who needs streams in this b****!" she concluded.
The user did not respond anymore.
The series of tweets come a few months after Cardi confirmed that her new album would be released this 2022.
In April of last year, the mom of two revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic discouraged her from releasing her album in 2021 and she didn't want to promote her new project virtually.
As of this writing, Cardi B has not publicly announced an official release date and tracklist of her upcoming album.
