The 65-year-old Julee Cruise, notably known for her stunning collaborations with David Lynch, has passed away. Edward Grinnant, her husband, announced the news on the B-52s' Facebook page.

Cruise was an occasional touring member of the band B-52, filling in for Cindy Wilson between 1992 and 1999.

"For those of you who go back I thought you might want to know that I said goodby to my wife, Julee Cruise, today. She left this realm on her own terms. No regrets. She is at peace. Having had such a varied music career she often said that the time she spent as a B filling in for Cindy while she was having a family was the happiest time of her performing life," he wrote.

He added, "She will be forever grateful to them. When she first stepped up to the mic with Fred and Kate she said it was like joining the Beatles. She will love them always and never forget their travels together around the world. I played her Roam during her transition. Now she will roam forever. Rest In Peace, my love, and love to you all."

Cruise was most well-known for her work with Lynch.

"Falling" was her biggest hit, with music composed by "Twin Peaks" composer Angelo Badalamenti and words written by Lynch. The instrumental version of the song would become "Peaks'" unforgettable opening theme. She also appeared multiple times on the show as a bar singer, and her song was featured on both the show and the album.

Prior to her passing, the deceased singer was reported to be struggling with the auto-immune disease Lupus.

In 2017, Julee told Pitchfork that her disease had left her with the "bones of an 85-year-old woman at age 33."

While Cruise's name was not as well-known as that of the show's protagonist, Laura Palmer, her voice and mysterious persona on the show gave an unnerving musical thread to the acclaimed series.

Between 1989 and 2011, Cruise recorded four albums as a recording artist. In 1990, "Falling" from her debut album "Floating Into the Night" hit No. 11 on the U.S. Modern Rock chart.

In the same year, Cruise sang the song on "Saturday Night Live," replacing Sinéad O'Connor, who canceled at the last minute in protest of the evening's guest host, Andrew Dice Clay.

In 2017, Cruise returned to "Twin Peaks" for the long-awaited third season of the Showtime series (the original two seasons were on ABC). Her act during her appearance was "The World Spins."

The next year, she published "Three Demos," an EP containing the original demo versions of her best-known works, "Falling," "Floating," and "The World Spins."
