Sad news, fans who want to watch "The Music Man" on Broadway in the coming weeks as they won't be seeing the Tony-winning Hugh Jackman step into the shows of Professor Harold Hill.

Days after the Tony Awards 2022 concluded, Jackman shared shocking news about him reprising the role in the next few performances.

"The Music Man," despite being one of the most-anticipated revivals this year on Broadway, failed to take home any Tonys this year.

Hugh Jackman Skipping' The Music Man' Shows Because of COVID-19

In a new video message on his Instagram account, the "Greatest Showman" actor had revealed that he was again diagnosed with COVID-19 after contracting the same virus last year, just before the show started.

"I've frustratingly tested positive for Covid. Again. My standby, the amazingly talented @maxmclayton will step in for me. What's most annoying is I don't get to see him perform! I've said it before, and will say it a million times more ... Maxi and all the standbys, swings and understudies around the world, you are the true heroes of theater. You give life to the saying: the show must go on," the actor said.

Actor Max Clayton will be filling in on Hugh Jackman's absence on the show along with Sutton Foster in all performances of the Tony-winning musical from Jun 14, 2022 - Jun 21, 2022 - just in time for the singer's return after his quarantine.

Jackman tested positive last December 2021, just days after Foster was also hit. It is because of his absence that the new production was forced to cancel some performances, waiting for his return.

The diagnosis of his COVID-19 came days after the recently-concluded Tony Awards 2022.

'The Music Man' on Tony Awards 2022

The 2022 Broadway revival of "The Music Man" was one of the most-anticipated ones this season. Receiving six nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Hugh Jackman, and Best Leading Actress in a Musical for Sutton Foster, the production is expected to reap at least a few awards for its performance.

However, they failed to take any Tonys this year.

The Stephen-Sondheim gender-flipped production of "Company" took home Best Revival of a Musical, while newcomer Myles Frost beat veteran Hugh Jackman, and Joaquina Kalukango bested Sutton Foster for the Leading Actress category.
