The latter years of George Michael were marked by a terrifying plunge into illegal narcotics, particularly the so-called "date rape" drug GHB.

According to a new book, when the "Careless Whisper" singer concluded his 25 Live Tour in 2008, he "lived in a haze."

James Gavin, in his upcoming biography "George Michael: A Life" (due out on June 28) revealed that the singer would sleep until mid-afternoon, then stayed stoned for nearly for all the rest of his waking moments.

While being out of it, he would just be playing video games, binge-watching teevision, and smoking joints. He would also frequent Hampstead Heath, one of Europe's most renowned homosexual cruising sites.

In September 2008, cops spotted the Wham! vocalist loitering in an underground men's facility in the Heath. Michael was detained after a search yielded marijuana and crack cocaine.

Months later, he was arrested once more following a car accident, where police discovered him "soaked in sweat" with "gaping eyes and dilated pupils."

It was her sixth arrest in the past 12 years. He was given a five-year license suspension and a four-week jail sentence.

According to Gavin, the GHB acted like a manna from paradise. It made him have a higher than usual sexual appetite, which was something the author thinks feels lovely for a "depressed, self-hating" guy. GHB reportedly made Michael feel happy when there was no happiness in his life. It gave the singer much-needed confidence but also led to a terrifying new level of self-destruction. GHB is more addictive than amphetamine and more dangerous in every way.

Michael's on-and-off relationship with British adult-film actor and escort Paul Stag lasted nine years.

Michael would mix the substance into a glass of Coca-Cola after receiving it from Stag in travel-sized shampoo bottles.

Stag remembers in the book that Michael would suddenly exclaim he's ready to have "s*x,"

In February 2006, the singer was discovered slumped in his stalled Mercedes, which was less than two miles from his Regent's Park residence. Michael opened the door semi-consciously and mumbled when the police knocked on the glass.

A search revealed that he was in possession of marijuana and GHB.

A source informed the Daily Mirror that investigators also discovered sex toys, such as "a black leather fetish mask with flashlight eyes and a zipper mouth," which was studded and made of leather.

The book details many more sordid information, collaborating some rumors and debunking some, all of which can interest a true blue George Michael fan.
