Bill Ward is seemingly experiencing the effects of refusing to join the Black Sabbath reunion.
In 2012, Black Sabbath's fans did not get the reunion they wanted to see as Ward did not join Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, and Geezer Butler in the band's schedules. At that time, he revealed on his website that the parties failed to reach an agreement, causing him to rule himself out of the reunion.
In a new interview with Classic Rock, Ward disclosed the tragic setback he has been suffering because of his absence from the rock band's farewell project.
According to the drummer, he has seven solo albums he can release anytime. One of the songs, "Beyond Aston," reportedly sounds incredible.
Unfortunately, he has not been able to successfully secure a record deal.
"It's not for lack of trying," he reflected. "I think I got a bad rap a few years ago and people didn't want to touch me. We're within an industry that's very tiny. I walked out on a deal, you know," he said, as quoted by Ultimate Classic Rock & Culture.
Although he already gave up on having digital releases for his work, Ward still hopes he can soon release physical editions of his music.
Bill Ward Reminisces Time with Black Sabbath
In the same interview, Ward took his time to recall the early days of his career with Black Sabbath, saying it was them against the world.
The musician noted that they had an amazing camaraderie and enjoyed working together while joking around. But amid the playful acts, they still respected their talents and abilities, and even treasured their friendships.
"[WE] played like punks onstage. The band was just fucking crazy. There was this force, all this resentment, and anger that was coming out. It came from what we thought was bullshit at the time: politics and war, and upbringing and people's ways of life," he went on.
While waiting for his time to release his albums, Ward spends his days writing poetry and prose. He revealed that he plans to publish several books, one of which will be "about life experiences in a kind of poetry format."
Ward also aims to release an autobiography that explores the post-traumatic stress disorder he went through as a kid.
