David O. Russell's upcoming crime comedy/thriller Amsterdam casts Taylor Swift. This is not the iconic musician's first acting stint though.
A new trailer for the Nov. 4 release feature a brief appearance by the 32-year-old "All Too Well" singer.
Swift is spotted during her performance with red lipstick and an intricate hairstyle. Her character, who appears to be crying, is dressed in 1930s-style outfit and headgear.
While Swift's position in the film remains under wraps, Variety reported in April that a separate teaser was screened at CinemaCon and appeared to provide more context for her character.
Swift was described as appearing as "a sorrowful daughter, shedding tears before her father's body as Chris Rock looks on."
The film follows three very close friends - a doctor, a nurse, and an attorney - as they travel to Amsterdam to defend their innocence after being implicated in one of the most secret American schemes.
Swift joins a truly star-studded cast in this project. She works alongside Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zo Saldana, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Timothy O'Dea, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro.
"Amsterdam" is not the eleven-time Grammy Award winner's first acting performance. She has also acted in "The Giver," "The Lorax," and "Valentine's Day."
Her most recent appearance was in "Cats." It happened in 2019 and she played Bombalurina.
Swift revealed back in 2012 that she's serious about her acting as much as she's focused on her music career. She revealed though that she could only truly do acting projects that meant something for her, instead of just acting for the sake of it.
"In my free time I just read and read [scripts]," she shared. "When I look at acting careers that I really admire, I see that it's been a precise decision-making process for these people. They make decisions based on what they love and they do only the things that they are passionate about. They play only characters that they can't stop thinking about."
Swift has ventured into the world of directing too apart from singing and acting. She has been quite hands-on in helming a 13-minute short film set to "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version)" back in November. Swift is literally talented at all things she does.
As a director, the celebrity stated this month at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival that she had to battle "imposter syndrome," although it is clear that she has a knack for it.
