It looks like Lea Michele is the only thing that "Funny Girl" producers need to keep their curtains open in the next few months.
Since her controversial casting on the role of Fanny Brice in the 2022 Broadway Revival of "Funny Girl," Lea Michele's upcoming September shows in the August Wilson Theatre are getting sold out.
Not only that, "Funny Girl" ticket prices have started ballooning into staggering prices that every producer would dream of.
Lea Michele "Funny Girl" Casting Drama
After months of loud chatter among the tight community on Broadway, fan sentiments, and unconfirmed reports, Lea Michele has finally been cast as Fanny Brice on "Funny Girl" on Broadway.
But his arrival has been riddled with controversy as the initial person who took on the role, Beanie Feldstein, quitted months before her actual contract expired, noting that the production "decided to take the show in a different direction."
Turns out, Feldstein was "essentially sacked" from the production after receiving overwhelmingly terrible reviews throughout her run as Fanny. News outlets even described her to be "terribly cast" from the onset.
With Feldstein's poor performance came the loud chatter that Michele is the only person who could fill in Barbra Streisand's shoes, as she has been gunning for the role since 2009 in Glee, where she famously got the role.
Now cast as Fanny Brice, Michele packs an entire battalion of "Funny Girl" fans and interested viewers alike wanting to see her give justice to the Styne & Merill musical.
