Britney Spears would not be facing his father, Jamie Spears' legal team's requested deposition after the presiding judge rules its irrelevance to the case.
The popstar's lawsuit against his father is recently gaining momentum.
In a favorable development last week, the court ordered Britney's estranged father, Jamie, to face deposition on her daughter's camp and surrender all surveillance records he allegedly took to track her daughter.
Britney Spears Conservatorship Update
In a recent Variety report, Judge Brenda Penny, the presiding judge on Britney's case, ruled that the 40-years-old singer should not be facing deposition as requested by her father's lawyers.
According to Penny, the deposition would "not likely" produce any relevant information needed to resolve the remaining issues on the high-profile case.
Britney's lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, echoed the judge's ruling, noting that the deposition would only "retraumatize" the popstar.
Aside from not facing deposition, Spears would also not be a witness in any future trial concerning the conservatorship nor any evidentiary proceeding.
However, Judge Penny recently highlighted that she would be limiting the discovery of the case to just being around the petition for fees and not on the establishment of the conservatorship.
Britney Spears Lawyer Accuses Jamie Spears of Misconduct
Elsewhere on the recent court hearing, Mathew Rosengart, Britney Spears' lawyer on the case, has pointed fingers at Jamie Spears for alleged misconduct in handling his daughter's controversial conservatorship.
"Whether he accepts it or not, his daughter feels traumatized by what she went through at his hands for more than a decade," Rosengart argued.
On the other hand, Jamie Spears' lawyer, Alex Weingarten, fired back on Rosengart's grave accusations.
"Mr. Spears did right by his daughter. The conservatorship was for her benefit...The truth will come out," he pointed out.
Jamie Spears Ordered To Face Deposition, Produce Surveillance Docs
Two weeks ago, California Judge Brenda Penny had ordered Jamie Spears to face deposition on Britney's camp and produce all surveillance documents he used to track her daughter during the conservatorship.
Judge Penny's ruling was a huge score on Britney's side as it would finally reveal documents that their camp said would be beneficial to the case.
Jamie Spears is accused of hiring a private firm to monitor Spears while on the case, alongside bugging his cellphone and room while on her conservatorship.
Judge Brenda Penny ordered Jamie Spears to be deposed within the next 30 days in Los Angeles.
