Taylor Swift attempted to conceal her identity while exiting a plane only weeks before she was criticized for having the most carbon emissions from a private jet. Was she already aware that there's a need to hide against the impending backlash private jet users would eventually be facing?

Kylie Jenner did not bother hiding - even posting about it on her social media, and the negative attention her post drew was enough to have her branded as a climate criminal. She's not even among the top ten private jet users in America and Swift topped that list.

On July 5, paparazzi captured the 32-year-old "All Too Well" singer cowering under an umbrella while deplaning at Hollywood Burbank Airport.

Swift has been criticized for supposedly taking 170 flights since January, resulting in more than 800 tons of carbon emissions, and the photographs have emerged this week. The face of the "Shake It Off" singer is obscured in the photographs, but the Daily Mail identified her as the woman depicted. In the photographs, only the legs covered by a pair of denim shorts are clearly visible.

Several members of Swift's team were pictured exiting the same flight while wearing protective face masks against COVID-19. Swift's representative recently refuted Yard's assertion that the Grammy winner has utilized her private jets as frequently as the analytics firm claims.

Ironically, when the extent of Swift's jet use was brought into light, her team said that there were unfair calculations and attributions that happened.

"Taylor's jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals," her spokesperson told BuzzFeed News Monday. "To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect."

The defense was met with a host of criticisms.

"you've really gotta hand it to taylor swift's publicist bc 'she generously rents out her jet for her poorer friends who can't afford their own personal jets to use' is the funniest possible way to put a humanitarian spin on her carbon emissions," one person wrote on Twitter.

Swift's representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment on why their client concealed her face after deplaning on July 5. Interestingly, Khloe Kardashian liked a post suggesting Kris Jenner is the one behind this secret jet use reveal. While she's not personally on the list, it is known that her sister Kim Kardashian has gotten into a feud with Swift, and is included in the list of top ten jet users.

According to TMZ, in May 2020, the "Willow" singer attempted to reduce the number of private planes she possessed by selling one of them. Swift sold the Dassault Falcon 50 she had purchased in 2012 at the time.
