Despite being in jail for the past year, R. Kelly is expecting a child with Joycelyn Savage, his fiancée and one of his alleged victims.
It was through "Love and Joy of Robert," Savage's tell-all book that the 26-year-old announced her pregnancy with the "I Believe I Can Fly" rapper's child.
Savage released the 24-paged e-book on Amazon, and promised the second part the following year. In the book, she also revealed that the 55-year-old sent her an engagement ring.
According to reports, Savage did not explain how she could be pregnant with the rapper's child when he has been incarcerated for the past year.
"It was a happy day but an incomplete time in my life. Today I am grateful to God for giving me the most precious gift," she said.
"Robert is extremely excited about the news that I am having a baby and feels sad that Robert will not be able to be here with us."
Alleged Victim to Fiancée?
Savage came forward, claiming that she was the musician's fiancée. She admitted it through a letter addressed to District Court Judge Ann Donnelly before his sentencing in June.
Kelly was convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking crimes. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for exploiting and luring women and underaged girls for sex by using his status and wealth.
Allegedly, among those victims is Joycelyn Savage. In her letter, she insisted that she was not a victim of Kelly and asked the court for leniency.
In a copy of the letter, obtained by Entertainment Weekly, Savage wrote, "I'm writing this letter in support of Robert in advance of his sentencing, so I can explain to the court that I'm not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be."
"My relationship with Robert is amazing. He's the best thing that's ever happened to me. We have a very special connection and are deeply in love. I still support Robert to this day because I love him and will always be here to support him."
""it breaks my heart that the government has created a narrative that I'm a victim. I'm a grown woman, and can speak for myself which is why I wanted to provide this letter to the court," she added.
Two Sides of a Coin
Unlike Savage, Kitti Jones, one of Kelly's exes who accused him of physical abuse and sexual coercion, said he should seek therapy and take accountability for his actions.
Jones, who appeared in a documentary entitled "Surviving R. Kelly," also gave a victim impact statement during Kelly's sentencing.
"If he really accepted what he's done to people. To take accountability and just turn his life over to God," she said in an interview with TMZ.
"It just gives a lot of closure to myself and some of the others," she added."[...] I'm just happy that he's off the streets."
