The Hollywood Walk of Fame gifted Nipsey Hussle a star as his family and fans continue to seek justice for the slain rapper.

On Monday, Nipsey Hussle's family and fans remembered him on what would have been his 37th birthday. Although the Los Angeles rapper died years ago, the Hollywood Walk of Fame joined the celebration of his life by giving him a star.

NBC Los Angeles reported that the late rapper was posthumously honored during the recent Walk of Fame Ceremony held at 6212 Hollywood Blvd.

His girlfriend, actress Lauren London, and his sister, Samantha Smith, both spoke at the ceremony and honored the rapper. Meanwhile, his grandmother Margaret Boutte accepted the star.

According to London, Nipsey Hussle would have been honored if he received the star personally.

"I think he would want everyone to remember that you can't get to what's possible unless you commit to moving forward. That doesn't mean forgetting where you come from, but it requires acknowledging the reality you were born into and the power you have to change that reality for the better," the actress said.

She also expressed how much she hopes people to be inspired once they see his star on the Walk of Fame.

Meanwhile, Smith referred to the event as something bittersweet. Although she felt awe by the recognition, Nipsey Hussle's sister was reportedly not surprised at all since the rapper contributed so much to the industry and became a pillar in their family and hip-hop community.

"I've always been amazed and impressed at the example that you set. I feel so blessed and grateful to call you my brother," she went on.

Nipsey Hussle's star became the 2,729th star since the completion of the Walk of Fame in 1961.

How Did Nipsey Hussle Die?

Amid the ongoing trial to charge his alleged killer, Eric Holder, Nipsey Hussle's last moments were remembered by his fans.

Holder killed Hussle in April 2019 outside his clothing store. Responders were still able to rush him to a local hospital, but he was later pronounced dead.

Deputy Medical Examiner Lawrence Nguyen previously told the grand jury that the late rapper sustained 11 gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, one of the two men who were shot also needed to undergo treatment at a hospital.

Los Angeles Police Commissioner Steve Soboroff and Police Chief Michael Moore were scheduled to meet him and his representatives on the day he died to have an anti-gang violence meeting.

Holder currently faces two counts of attempted murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, and one count of murder.
