Demi Lovato might have experienced a popular lifestyle growing up as a teen actress and singer, but she revealed in a recent interview that it took a toll on her mental health and the way she sees herself.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 to promote her upcoming album "Holy Fvck," the former Disney star shared how her previous traumas inspired her to write music.

Despite having the glitz and glamour, the singer said she was "unhappy" doing those things.

The "Camp Rock" actress snagged a record deal at the young age of 15, but she started losing herself as an artist at the same time.

"I would get on stage, and I'd be in these leotards and these stiletto shoes that I was miserable in. And I danced. I did choreography and stuff like that, and I just wasn't happy," she added.

Lovato experienced a tragic lifestyle behind closed doors, leading her to go back to treatment.

After coming out of treatment, the singer didn't feel better because there is still unresolved trauma that she never got the chance to deal with.

Elsewhere in the interview, the "Sonny With a Chance" star said her upcoming album will feature songs inspired by her personal experiences last year.

Upon entering the industry during her teenage years, Lovato said she felt like working under a microscope.

However, she clarified that she couldn't comprehend the advice at the time when she was a teen.
