In an interview with People Magazine, the 50-year-old musician detailed his experience upon finding out his lymphoma diagnosis.

At the time, the singer said he was crying in the living room while talking to his wife, and he told her that he was not sure if he could survive his health struggles.

His mind was taken over by dark thoughts as his wife Skye asked him, "well, what are you going to do, kill yourself?" The bassist added that it was the exact thing in his mind.

He considered Skye's words as a "total snap-out-of-it moment" even though he got offended at first because he thought it was a "s***** thing" to say.

"But also, what a kind thing to say, like, 'Snap out of it, you f****** baby. You have a beatable form of cancer. It's going to suck to get there, but get there.' I had to do the work," he added. (via Daily Mail UK)

Mark Hoppus Shares Recovery Journey

The Blink-182 member's cancer was already in stage four when he was diagnosed last year, leading him to undergo "brutal" chemotherapy treatments.

When he was receiving treatments, the vocalist said he had no energy and stayed on the couch "trying to get through the day," saying he had the "worst brain fog."

There was also one moment when he got together with pals and he paused for a while because he couldn't remember the first name of his friend's partner.

He experienced that "all the time" before. Hoppus is recovering from the "brain fog" today but admits that he still feels it once in a while.

Elsewhere in the interview, he noted that a lump on his shoulder was the first sign of cancer. He initially made a joke out of it, but doctors soon discovered several other tumors around his body including his stomach, shoulder, abdomen, neck, and more.

To give an update about his current condition, the singer said he's doing well even though the recovery process took a lot longer than he hoped.

"I am in a much better place. I feel like I have a second shot at life," he added.
