With a brand-new billboard prominently erected in the Bronx neighborhood of New York City, Lil Tjay has proclaimed his impending comeback. This is something that his fans have been waiting for over two months now - to hear something directly from him, after being shot 7 times and miraculously surviving.
For the past two months though, his camp was decidedly silent, allowing bogus reports to come out about his death or his coma.
Some would eventually report he is alive, but because he has not make a direct statement, fans have been continuously worried.
Lil Tjay was released from the hospital last month. On August 3, a photo of Tjay talking to his friends on FaceTime made the rounds, which made his fans and friends so happy and proud that he made it. Still, no direct message from him...until now.
On Tuesday, August 23, a billboard appeared with the simple but quite SURREAL statement, "I'M BACK. - Lil Tjay."
Given that the 21-year-old rapper almost didn't get to see the day when he could have a billboard in NYC, the message is encouraging.
It can be remembered that shortly after midnight on June 22, the Bronx native was shot at a Chipotle restaurant in Edgewater, New Jersey, and taken immediately to Hackensack University Medical Center.
Following an urgent surgery, he was still unconscious, and his prognosis for survival was uncertain.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, on that particular day, Lil Tjay and two of his buddies were the targets of a failed armed robbery attempt by suspect Mohamed Konate.
Konate is accused of shooting Tjay several times and one of Tjay's pals once when they protested. Tjay apparently suffered a close call when Konate almos destroyed his chest cavity.
The 27-year-old was detained at Rikers Island while he awaited extradition to New Jersey after his arrest on July 22. The other two defendants are accused of second-degree unauthorized possession of a weapon, while he faces three counts of first-degree attempted murder.
Listen to his songs before he makes an official comeback:
After being shot, countless other artists also sent their prayers and expressed their admiration for how he managed to live through the nightmare of being shot so many times.
