One of the North Carolina Hip-Hop duos, Little Brother, finally dropped his solo work, but not without the help of the other.
Rapper Big Pooh enlisted the help of Phonte Coleman, who co-executively produced his solo album "To Dream In Color."
He teased the release of his album earlier this month and captioned: "all killer, no filter. Believe that!"
Up Close And Personal
Big Pooh revealed that "To Dream In Color" holds a special place in his heart, "this is my most personal body of work."
He added that he hopes fans and listeners would get a better glimpse of who he is as a person and rapper by "hearing his story."
The 42-year-old rapper opened up about the meaning behind the lyrics of his tracks, "I speak about lacking confidence, stage fright, swallowing pride, my childhood, and so much more."
He also shared that this album is him celebrating his accomplishments by acknowledging them: "With this album, my focus was on painting a picture with words. I wanted to essentially create an audio book."
Roadmap to His Soul
The 10-song tracklist is essentially the roadmap to Big Pooh's soul. It includes "Dreaming In Color," featuring J. Smash of The Nukez, "Changing Again," "Thoughts & Prayers" as the interlude.
"What Else," "God's Grace" with Jared Evan, "1 Day In NY," "LS400," "Broken Dreams," featuring Blakk Soul, "Mother's Day" with BeMyFiasco, and "In Surround Sound" featuring Tre'Mar.
"To Dream In Color" is Big Pooh's thirteenth album, four years after the release of his recent album "RPM."
This touchingly sincere album boasts cover art by Joe Scudda of Justus League.
Big Pooh's fans were not disappointed, nor did they disappoint with how they received the album.
A fan described "To Dream In Color" as excellent, and commended Big Pooh for being down to earth. Some fans called it an outstanding piece of work.
