Lil Tjay fans has rejoiced last week when he decided to personally update them on not just his recovery from being shot a total of 7 times, but also for dropping new music immediately after that update.

The teasers of the new song "Beat the Odds" already hinted that it would center around the topic of him being shot. The music video that was released soon after confirmed it.

The lyrics however, certainly got his fans thinking the danger that Lil Tjay has to deal with on the daily as a rapper.
Here, he sang about surviving the seven shots, but also revealed that this is hardly the first time his life got threatened. This is why he has a got a gun of his own, with him almost all the time.

"They be like, "Tjay, why do you move around with all them fuckin' guns?"

"I just tell 'em that's 'cause I don't wanna die. And trust me, I don't lie, can't fuck up, I'm a star right now" some of the lyrics went.

He then also sang that there are so many who want to kill him and that he prays he can "squeeze" first because he

has already gotten so far and does not want to "lose the miles" he found.

He even sang about knowing people are mad he is still NOT dead and witnessing someone dying through bullet fire in front of him.

All in all, it was clear that the song almost served as a personal diary of how HARD Lil Tjay's life was, up until getting shot, and being a rapper has aggravated his situation.

As reported by TMZ, CBS New York, and NJ Advance Media for NJ.com at the time, the 21-year-old artist and Antoine Boyd, 22-years-old, were shot on June 22 at 14 The Promenade, a nearby retail mall. As a result of the gunshot,

Lil Tjay had to undergo emergency surgery and for a while, fans have gotten so worried about his condition following the silence from his camp. Some thought he was dead, or has gotten into a coma. Nobody thought he'll be dropping new music so soon after being released from the hospital.

Mohamed Konate, 27, was arrested in connection with the crime by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the New York City Police Department after word of Tjay's hospitalization spread. Three counts of attempted murder, three counts of armed robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons-related offenses were brought against him. Boyd and Jeffrey Valdez, who was also with Tjay during the incident, were detained for illegal possession of a firearm.
