Ellie Goulding was a metalhead and "Kerrang! girl" as a teenager. Is this an indication that she will soon collaborate with a death metal band? Or abandoning her metal music?
One can recall that Ed Sheeran stated the same thing, and it was only just reported that he will be collaborating with Cradle of Filth. Actually, it's dropping sooner rather than later.
The death metal band revealed that the project resulted after Ed Sheeran made the admission that he was honed by metal music, even though as an artist, he is more known for crooning ballads and singing pop songs.
It appears that although Goulding may be a pop queen with a predilection for ballads, she is a rocker at heart and cannot wait to "shred" the guitar on her next tour.
In her latest interview with Bustle, she revelaed that the music and inspiration she had when she was a child was mostly part of the music and guitar scene.
Goulding admitted that she was never a fan of indie bands as a child, despite her passion for System of a Down, Deftones, and Spineshank, among others.
Her favorite guitarists include Tom Morello, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton, but she describes Clapton as "a bit of a d***." Elsewhere, the 'Lights' hitmaker recounted being urged to "stick to playing guitar" since her vocals are "not to everyone's liking" and therefore making her feel "very nervous" about her singing voice.
When asked if she has always been an assured singer, she responded in the negative. She said her voice was even ridiculed because it was quite unusual. She did not lie in how this made her insecure growing up until she became confident to think she should not mind what others are saying.
She revealed that for a while, she had an "impostor" syndrome and that wrecked her confidence. When she started to care more about her opinion of herself than the opinions of others, her life became "clearer."
In an interview with Audacy last month, she said she must maintain her confidence as she tries to attempt new things. Even if some days are more difficult than others, she urges herself to take joy in any progress, however tiny.
