The company of "Funny Girl" on Broadway has released its first teaser for Lea Michele's upcoming performance as Fanny Brice.
In the new photos, Michele is finally sporting that short hair Fanny, which he also famously donned on the "Glee" adaptation of the same musical.
Meanwhile, the internet is still buzzing with Lea Michele conspiracy theories alleging that the Broadway actress could not read at all.
Lea Michele 'Funny Girl' Teaser
Hello, Gorgeous! Lea Michele is in a full-circle moment for her Broadway comeback as the iconic Fanny Brice on the 2022 revival production of "Funny Girl."
Lea's road to the role was dramatic as it was highly controversial. After finishing "Glee," rumors that Michele would play Fanny have been up in the air for years.
To everyone's surprise, Beanie Feldstein was cast in the role at the announcement of the revival. However, because of the overwhelmingly negative reviews on Feldstein's portrayal, the producers recast the role and gave it to Lea.
Now, she has done several rehearsals and photoshoots for the role - birthing a new marquee poster for the production.
However, some fans are still on the fence about Lea Michele's casting. But not because of her capabilities of playing Fanny, as she has made that exceptionally clear numerous times. But it is because of the allegations of her micro-aggressions, racist tendencies, and diva-attitude on set, which his former workmates have aired on social media.
Very close to her role, Lea Michele has reached a full circle moment in her career with the portrayal of Fanny, which she has also done in "Glee" in the same storyline. The only difference was she was given the role, to begin with, and not inherited it from someone.
Lea Michele Conspiracy Theory: Can She Really Read?
If you have been staying on Twitter and on the internet in the past few weeks, the conspiracy theories on Lea Michele's alleged illiteracy have grown tremendously.
With netizens posting videos of her during interviews and announcements, showing her "difficulty" in acting, Lea has slammed the allegations in a recent interview.
"I went to Glee every single day; I knew my lines every single day. And then there's a rumor online that I can't read or write? It's sad. It really is. I think often if I were a man, a lot of this wouldn't be the case," Lea told The New York Times.
"Funny Girl" opens tonight on Broadway with Tovah Feldshuh, Ramin Karimloo, and Jared Grimes at the August Wilson Theatre.
