Nas's album Illmatic is widely considered one of most important rap albums ever made. This fall the rapper is hitting the road across North America for a tour coinciding with screenings of his Tribeca Film documentary about the debut album, Nas: Time Is Illmatic.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the tour will kick of October 2 in Rochester and will close in Oakland on October 19. Each stop of the tour will feature Nas performing his 10-track 1994 debut from start to finish.
This string of performances will be similar to the post-screening concert Nas put on after this year's Tribeca Film Festival.
"When we started this project, Erik Parker and I couldn't imagine that audiences would one day be able to experience the film with a live performance of Illmatic, the album that started it all," said the film's director One9 in a statement to THR. "It will make each night a truly special moment for the culture. We are sure people of all generations will be inspired by the story of Nas, the Jones family, and electrified by a live performance."
Nas: Time Is Illmatic opens theatrically beginning October 1 before expanding nationally. It will become available on-demand starting October 3 on iTunes.
