A fresh set of sexual assault charges has been filed against Ricky Martin, less than a week after he filed a $20 million lawsuit over previous claims made by his nephew.
The latest complaint was made last week at a police station in San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to the Associated Press. Though the claimed victim's identity was not given, the action was brought by the singer's nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, according to the site.
Martin's attorneys, though, refute the nephew's accusations, telling Deadline that they are "wildly inappropriate and entirely untethered from fact."
As of writing, not a lot of details are made available about what Sanchez is suing for.
When Sanchez made the same accusations, his legal claims were withdrawn, they added, "not least because he testified under oath that Ricky Martin had never harmed him."
Last week, the pop legend sued Sanchez, saying that his charges of incest and sexual abuse were an effort to smear his name.
The complaint says that Martin's accusations cost him $10 million in canceled projects and performances, as well as another $20 million in reputational harm, and that he was sexually engaged with his nephew and was allegedly harassing the young man after their relationship ended.
In July, the 21-year-old claimed he was a victim of domestic violence and criminal incest at the hands of his uncle, and a restraining order was issued against Martin.
During that time, the singer's lawyers disputedthe allegations, claiming that Sanchez was suffering from "mental health issues."
The case against the "Livin' La Vida Loca" hitmaker was eventually dropped, but according to Ricky Martin's current legal action, his nephew isn't stopping there.
Sanchez hounded his uncle with messages on social media a month after withdrawing the restraining order. He threatened Martin's ethics and reputation if he didn't pay some hush money.
Sanchez made charges of incest and domestic abuse before boasting that he was related to Martin. Martin stated in the legal documents that he received multiple DMs for four months, including communications delivered from a "maladjusted individual."
Sanchez is also accused of leaking his uncle's phone information and creating spoof accounts for one of Ricky Martin's children.
Martin lost multimillion-dollar projects as a result of the claims and is demanding $20 million in damages, leaving him feeling "unsafe" in Puerto Rico.
"I wish the individual who was claiming this nonsense the best and hope he receives assistance so he can start a new life full with love, truth, and joy, and that he doesn't damage anybody else."
