Drake, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, and many others paid tribute to PnB Rock after he was fatally shot in Los Angeles on Monday, September 12. in the process, some of these renowned rappers also revealed how the constant news of rappers being shot are starting to make them feel anxious and apprehensive.
As reported by TMZ, PnB Rock was shot and then rushed to the hospital in a normal Monday afternoon while out on a date with his girlfriend and baby mama. He did not survive. He was just 30.
Drake posted a photo of himself and PnB Rock to his Instagram Stories, while Quavo wrote, "RIP PNB Rock, sending prayers to his family." Denzel Curry, DRAM, and Juicy J also posted similar comments online. PnB Rock colleagues from Philadelphia, such as Questlvoe (who just tweeted "Shit") and Tierra Whack, who released various photographs and screenshots of discussions with PnB Rock on Instagram Stories, have paid several respects.
Meek Mill, Cardi B and NIcki Minaj have a different take in their tributes however.
Meek Mill tweeted a video from PnB Rock with the caption and said he certainly did not deserve to die being shot. He then added that everytime one of his friends bleed to death on camera or get killed on television, he gets a dreadful feeling that he can't even explain... it simply puts him back in a mode of survival.
Other tributes, such as those of Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, were moving but also generated controversy by addressing the circumstances behind PnB Rock's passing.
After Pop Smoke, neither we as rappers nor our loved ones will post our locations," Minaj tweeted. She wondered at the incredulity of dying after just displaying waffles and fried chicken on social media. It was a pleasure to collaborate with him. Condolences are extended to his mother and family.
Cardi B said it is dangerous and irresponsible to the victims themselves for something so awful. We should offer her and his family nothing but love at this time, Cardi reminded people blaming the girlfriend for uploading a since-deleted photo of their food with their location details.
Unfortunately, the LAPD now says this post certainly influenced the shooter's motivation.
Tuesday, Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore stated that the gunman who killed PnB Rock at Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles demanded jewelry and other valuables before engaging in a struggle with the rapper and opening fire.
Moore stated that the attack on Monday occurred shortly after the rapper was identified online as being at the eatery, and authorities are investigating whether this was the motive.
Rock, whose full name was Rakim Allen, was in the restaurant with his fiancée, who shared a location-tagged Instagram photo that has since been deleted.
Mnay numerous others emphasized PnB Rock as an artist and friend.
