The Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez trial have been officially delayed after the latter's defense lawyer could not make it due to other commitments on other cases aside from him.
Meanwhile, the trial is about to take an interesting turn as the prosecution has subpoenaed Megan Thee Stallion's best friend Kelsey Harris, which is considered the case's star witness to the alleged 2020 shooting incident.
Since the incident, Megan Thee Stallion and Kelsey Harris have drifted apart after the female rapper knew that her best friend have met up with Lanez days after the tragic violent encounter.
Tory Lanez, Megan Thee Stallion Trial Delayed
After weeks of requesting that the trial would be delayed to give way for Tory Lanez's head lawyer's absence, the judge ruling on the high-profile case has officially granted the request.
Lanez's lawyer, Shawn Holley, is currently unavailable because of prior commitments with other clients including Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer and actor Danny Masterson.
According to Rolling Stone, the trial is now expected to start between November 28 to December 8, despite objections from the prosecution.
However, the case is now starting to take its own life as Megan's now-estranged best friend, Kelsey Harris was subpoenaed to the trial.
Per the outlet, Harris' inclusion in the trial could either be beneficial or detrimental to the case - as her statements would support a conviction.
What is Kelsey Harris' Involvement in the Case?
Apparently, Kelsey Harris was in the same SUV with Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez the night after Kylie Jenner's party.
After Lanez allegedly shot Megan on the foot thrice, Harris went to meet up with Lanez days after. Megan claims that her best friend received money from the Candian rapper.
Since the shooting in 2020, Harris has not given any public statement about the incident.
Kelsey Harris was also present at the recent hearing, asked by Judge David Herriford to make herself available on December 9 as a witness to the alleged crime.
Tory Lanez, formally known as Daystar Peterson, was charged with felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and inflicting great bodily harm.
He pleaded not guilty in 2020 and had his bail increased several times after violating court orders.
