Chad Kroeger has been famous for years for being the frontman of Nickelback as he was introduced in countless interviews, performances, and events. However, the singer recently made a big revelation about his name, saying people have been mispronouncing his last name all this time.
Speaking to Loudwire, the vocalist clarified the original pronunciation of his name, saying many fans say it the way they pronounce the famous character "Freddy Krueger" from "The Nightmare On Elm Street."
"It's [Kroo-ger], don't trust the internet," he said. (via NME)
Despite the mistake happening almost all the time, Kroeger said he never corrected any hosts from past interviews as he didn't want to have a bad impression from fans.
He noted that if he would intervene in the conversation and correct his name blatantly, he would "look like such a d*** so I'm just like whatever, I don't care."

Elsewhere in the conversation, the frontman shared a story about one of the few times his name was corrected in an interview, but it wasn't him who called out the host.
Kroeger said he was Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, in which he told the host that they have been pronouncing his pal's name incorrectly.

He remembers looking at Cantrell and he told him "It's your name, dude. That is your last name. Tell that dude across there how to say it properly so that he stops saying it wrong into that microphone and misinforming people."
