Rina Sawayama 'Hold The Girl'
Last week, Rina Sawayama released her second album "Hold The Girl," the follow-up to her successful debut album "SAWAYAMA" released in 2020.
In an interview with Variety, the "This Hell" songstress agreed with the interviewer that the latest record is "less angsty and intense" than her first release because of good therapy. The British pop star also didn't want to be more vulnerable in her first record.
The album, which was written during the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, was "a lot of introspection, quite a few ups and downs, which is what I was going through at the time."
According to Pitchfork, the 32-year-old singer's latest project is more on the personal side as she gives fans an insight into what she's been through growing up and making the album is a process of "reparenting" herself.
Sawayama would always emphasize "hold the inner child" because she believes that "our inner life force comes by giving love that our child self wanted to ourselves as adults... and in order to heal as an adult, the inner child needed to heal first." (via Spotify)
In other updates, Rina Sawayama will be touring across the United States starting at the Great Hall at Avant Gardner in Brooklyn, New York, on November 21.
