Sorry, Spice Girls fans, it looks like a reunion tour would not be happening in the near future.
After much speculations and unconfirmed reports, Mel C aka Sporty Spice has confirmed to BBC that a Spice Girl Reunion would not be possible.
"I wish I could say there were shows coming. But I can't, sadly. We do want to do shows, they're just not arranged yet," Melanie told Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2 recently.
However, she pointed out that the reunion tour with everyone on board has not left the girl's conversation. Mel pointed out that even though they are "constantly" trying to work the Spice Girl Reunion tour out to make it work for everybody in the group, it still remains her number one wish to date.
NME reports that earlier this year when Mel C was asked if she thinks the group would want to perform on Glastonbury 2023, the fans were particularly thrilled with the response they got.
"It's the absolute dream. We would love to do it. You know, the girls and I have chatted about it... it's the biggest stage in the world. We have the best festival in the world - right here," she said at the time.
But with her recent statements on BBC, it would seem like the dream might remain a dream for a long time.
The last time that the group had performed together was in 2019, after a short stint for the first time in more than a decade. They played in a string of concerts in the United Kingdom and Ireland at the time. However, Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice was not present at the concerts because of other commitments.
In 2020, reports have circulated that in celebration of their 25th anniversary, the Spice Girls would finally go on a world tour, but this did not materialize. This was further fanned when Emma Bunton aka Baby Spice assured loyal fans that the 90s girl group would return to the stage post-COVID.
Earlier this month, Mel C revealed in an interview that upon the disbandment of the band when Ginger Spice aka Geri Halliwell abruptly quit, she began to have suicidal thoughts. and was consecutively diagnosed with a flurry of worrying health disorders.
