A day after "Boogeyman" was released on DaBaby's surprise album "Baby On Baby 2," the track was already hit out with an opponent, accusing the already controversial artist of stealing elements of the track from another song.
Toronto-born songwriter Layla Hendryx has accused DaBaby of lifting the lyrics of the song on one of her unreleased songs. Per the female artist, she had only known about the song after it trended online because of the Megan Thee Stallion diss included.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about the accusations, Hendryx revealed that she found out about it after one of her friends have compared both songs.
"The whole [cadence], the whole flow for the hook is stolen from me. One, it was done so sheisty, and two, the fact that he used the song to basically diss another black woman while you're stealing from another black woman is just wild to me," she told the publication.

She also went on to reveal that her unreleased track was shared by another friend to an A&R earlier this year. Colloquially coined as A&R, an Artist and Repertoire is a division of a certain record label or publishing company that is responsible for talent scouting and artist development.
Apparently, the recipient has not responded back to Hendryx's friend who is sure that it was the one who handed out the song to the "Levitating" rapper.
"A&Rs steal from artists all the time, don't give them their credit. It's happened to me, but not to this scale. I'm also friends with writers and I've heard the stories, the horror stories - 'Hey, I was in a room and I did a song and then I come out and I hear it in the radio six months later without being credited," the singer pointed out.
Layla Hendryx will now be pursuing legal action against DaBaby. The case would have been different, she says, if her song would have been more positive and was used not by an embattled artist like the rapper. (via UPROXX)
She also went on to say that she would not write for DaBaby, to begin with - double downing that DaBaby not only plagiarized her work but it was used to diss another artist - something that her name would not want to be in.
