DaBaby experienced a costly consequence as a result of his homophobic statements at Rolling Loud Miami in 2021.

During an interview with Club Shay Shay's Shannon Sharpe, the "SHAKE SUMN" rapper admitted that these remarks set him back an extraordinary sum of $200 million.

Despite this hefty loss, he gained an invaluable life lesson from the experience.

"In hindsight, that parked me," the controversial rapper said. "Who is to say where I would be mentally and spiritually had I not been forced to sit down and self-reflect? Because I still didn't sit down when the incident took place. I'm fighting like, 'Hell nah, that ain't what it is. I'm telling y'all that ain't what it is.' God knows I'm a good fighter, but he was like, 'Yeah, you a good fighter, but sit yo ass down.'"

DaBaby went on to say, "I don't regret anything that I did been through. It feels so good to be able to say that and mean it. I've probably said that before, but I ain't mean it. It's like 'Boy I wish I had [...] $200million, y'all robbed me.'"

"I don't feel like that. I really feel like that's a blessing in disguise at this point in my life, and I just came to that realization in the past two weeks."

What Did DaBaby Say In Rolling Loud Miami 2021?

At Rolling Loud Miami in 2021, DaBaby delivered a performance that included crude and insulting remarks about HIV/AIDS and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

He asked those in attendance to hold up their cell phone lighters unless they had some form of deadly STD, such as AIDS or HIV. This type of statement is damaging due to the inaccurate portrayal it gives regarding these illnesses and the people who have them.

His insensitive comments towards gay men created an uproar in the public. Through offensive language, he contributed to existing stigmas directed at both LGBTQ+ individuals and those with HIV/AIDS.

Many voiced their outrage at his statements, including various advocacy groups and fellow artists. The backlash that followed sparked a larger conversation about how to foster understanding, tolerance, and factual information pertaining to these communities.

In the face of intense criticism, Dababy eventually admitted his wrongdoing and issued a sincere apology. At first, he attempted to justify what he said but soon realized the magnitude of his mistake and took steps to make amends. In his mea culpa, he owned up to being insensitive and uninformed in his remarks.

The incident with Dababy had serious repercussions, resulting in the loss of partnerships and performances. Reflecting on it, he expressed remorse for his words and their impact, realizing that they were not acceptable.

This emphasizes the great importance of promoting inclusion and awareness concerning hurtful phrases.
