With the debut of BLACKPINK's newest album, "Born Pink" at the summit of the Billboard 200 albums chart - Bad Bunny's "Un Verano Sin Ti" has been dethroned.
"Verano" is supposed to clinch its 12th nonconsecutive week at the No. 1 spot this week, but it would seem like he has to grab that record next week if he manages to pull through another peak next weekend.
The Korean girl group, on the other hand, managed to secure their very first No. 1 debut on the US Billboard charts. They are also the third Korean act this year that has managed to debut at the top. The first one was Stray Kids' "Stray Kids Mini Album: Oddinary," followed by BTS' "Proof."
According to Luminate, "Born Pink" opened at 102,000 album equivalent units on its opening week. It has recorded over 75,000 album sales, 25,000 streaming units, and 1,500 track units. "Born Pink" is also the current leader of the Top Albums chart.
BLACKPINK is now the second girl group in the history of the charts to have launched atop. Danity Kane's "Welcome to Dollhouse" was the first one to secure the feat.
Sitting at No. 2 is former No. 1 "Un Verano Sin Ti," who is reportedly in a head-to-head fight with the girl group.

Bad Bunny Loses to BLACKPINK on Billboard #1 Albums Chart
In a September 22 prediction of Hits Daily Double, it has predicted that Bad Bunny would still take the lead on the all-genre albums chart.
At the time, the two is tied on the 93,000 album equivalent units but Bad Bunny's recent Latin Grammy nominations seemed to have given him a more distant push than BLACKPINK.
However, it looks like the Korean quarter managed to push even harder, giving Bad Bunny another week to try to seal that 12th nonconsecutive No. 1 feat next week, if he manages to do so.
If and only if he could make it past the 12th and 13th week at the top of the Billboard 200 charts, Bad Bunny would beat Drake's "Views" who currently holds the 13th-week mark. (via Billboard)
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK's debut at the No. 1 spot is still lower compared to "Un Verano Sin Ti's" as the full-Spanish album opened to 274,000 album-equivalent units, while "Born Pink" only managed to fare over 100,000.
