Katy Perry, Kesha, and Eminem faced backlash following the release of Jeffrey Dahmer's "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" on Netflix.
Netflix released the gory "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" this month, exploring the life of Dahmer and the 17 people he killed and ate decades ago. Although it entered the most-watched list, the series has been receiving criticisms for allegedly romanticizing the serial killer and dramatizing the horrifying murders he did.
Aside from the series itself, Perry, Kesha, and Eminem found themselves in hot water over the songs they made that referenced the killer.
Katy Perry, Kesha, and Eminem Mentioned Jeffrey Dahmer in Their Songs
On Twitter, internet users slammed the three musicians for referencing the serial killer, with most of them demanding the trio to apologize.
One said, "Why isn't anyone calling out Katy Perry for allowing such a vile & terrible lyric to be included in one of her hit songs? Jeffrey was a notorious serial killer & Katy CHOSE to romanticize his criminal & inhumane actions. I actually feel sick to my stomach. She NEEDS to apologize."
Still, fans came to their defense and said no one cared about it not until the docuseries was released.
Perry received criticisms for her 2013 song "Dark Horse." Although she did not sing the part herself, rapper Juicy J raps in his verse, "She's a beast, I call her karma. She'll eat your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer."
Meanwhile, Kesha's 2010 song "Cannibal" offers the line "Be too sweet and you'll be a goner. Yep, I'll pull a Jeffrey Dahmer."

As for Eminem, the rap god has three songs that mention the killer, including "Brainless," "Bagpipes From Bagdad," and "Must Be the Ganja."
The three singers are yet to respond to the recent public's rage.
Amid those criticisms, Dahmer's story is currently leaving Netflix viewers in disbelief as he managed to get away with his murders for over a decade before his arrest. He is one of the most infamous serial killers in the US, killing and eating at least 17 men from 1978 to 1991.
Dahmer was killed inside his prison cell in November 1994 after his co-inmate, Christopher Scarver, killed him and Jesse Anderson while they were cleaning the prison's gym. It was revealed that Scarver beat the murderer to death with a weight bar before killing the other prisoner.
