Earlier this year, the world mourned as they witnessed the tragic and untimely death of beloved Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia.
Since then, speculations on his actual cause of death have emerged on social media, citing varying causes that led to his "chest pains."
The actual cause of death of Taylor Hawkins has been blurry. As of this writing, the only cause that the family has publicly considered was the toxicology report that has emerged - saying that the drummer's body was found with ten different substances.
For many, they have already found peace with these findings. Others, on the other hand, are still unsettled with the fact that Taylor Hawkins died tragically alone.
In a recent "The Plug With Justin Jay" podcast, Chris Shiflett, Foo Fighters' lead guitarist, blasted internet speculators dragging other people into the scene and pointing fingers.
Among the most notable rumors is that some fans are blaming Dave Grohl for Taylor Hawkins' death - because the former has allegedly forced the drummer into taking a COVID-19 vaccine, a mandate that the frontman has implemented at their concerts.
Shiflett slammed the accusations, describing them as "disrespectful" and "wrong." (via NME)
"This one is very different because of the public side of it, and there's so much internet sleuthing that people are doing and especially right after he died. All these Twitter private investigators... it's all wrong. They're wrong about everything, and that's been really strange to watch," he said on the podcast.
The 51-year-old guitarist who started in the band in the same year as Hawkins tries to be unfazed by the issues, reducing the issue only as a "Twitter yahoo." But, he admits that reading about those speculations did make him angry and felt disrespected.
Hawkins' close friends have expressed doubt about the initial toxicology report. Opioids, benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepressants, and THC were found in his bloodstream at the time.
Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron he does not believe the local findings that Colombia has produced. Chad Yeti, his drum tech, believed that Hawkins wouldn't have done that as he always remained sober during show day.
Taylor Hawkins died on Mar. 25, 2022, in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia, the day they were supposed to perform at the Asuncionico Festival.
